Report.
Kettering HC met for a fairly relaxed golf day at Lakeside lodge on Saturday 6th August. The day proved a gentle 'cobweb' shifter in preparation for the impending hockey season rumoured to be just around the corner. First off it was over to 'Thrice Nightly' Walshaws house of death (if you’re a cricket) for a quick bacon sandwich and a mug of tea. What better breakfast for 7 such athletes. (But shame on you Woggy - there's apparently a bigger George Forman grill) First up was the twelve devilish holes that make up the 'Church Course', followed by lunch, and attack by wasps (well one), then nine more holes (This time the 'Manor Course')
Notable highlights included, Wing Commander remembering to put the wheels down on his trolley in time to land on the first fairway.
14 dry attempts at the Church Courses signature hole 'the watery 5th/11th' (easy when there's a round of drinks riding on it hey, Mr M)
And Walshaw finally realising that your hands are meant to be above your knees for a good golf swing.
Captain Hone emerged the winner, closely followed by Monty and Giggs in the minor medal positions.
